Making AI Videos is Hard

We're off the beaten path a little bit today, briefly talking about the side quest I've been on.

It started with an idea I had watching a movie: TikTok is just TV. I’ve tried making TikTok videos and building an educational audience is hard. Why not try making entertaining videos that I would enjoy?

The stuff that’s done the best for me on TikTok has been mostly entertainment related:

Thus the hypothesis made sense. But shooting these things means getting all cleaned up, turning on lighting, getting the mic fired up…it’s a lot of work! And it’s hard to get the look you’re going for.

So I had a brilliant idea: let’s make videos with AI! Sora creates amazing video, it can just crank this out for me. Well, not really. Here’s a sample of what it gave me. 👎 Gross.

So then I had ANOTHER brilliant idea: let’s use ChatGPT image generator and Runway to animate these beautiful images! The results so far have been mixed. The images coming back are great:

But they’re not coming back super accurate to what I look like. Nor are they animating 100% well when I stitch them together in Runway. Here’s a piece of what I had in mind:
